Thunderbird Archeology, a division of Wetlands Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey Company, is currently accepting applications for an Archeological Laboratory Technician for immediate temporary, project-based, full-time employment. The position will be based in our Gainesville, Virginia office.

Responsibilities will include:

•    Process and catalog materials according to schedule in a busy lab environment
•    Process and inventory prehistoric and historic artifacts for analyses and curation as necessary
•    Enter artifact collections into customized SQL/Access Database
•    Filing and scanning of archeological records
•    Artifact photography and photo editing
•    Laboratory maintenance and organization

Minimum qualifications include:

•    Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archeology, museum studies, or related field;
•    Prior archeological laboratory experience; 
•    Experience with relational databases such as SQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and word processing;
•    Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
•    Ability to work under direct supervision and/or independently in order to accomplish project goals;
•    Attention to detail throughout repetitive tasks;
•    Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work as a member of a cohesive team.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

•    An advanced degree in Archeology, or a closely related field and at least one year of full time archeological laboratory experience;
•    Strong knowledge of eighteenth and nineteenth-century material culture of the mid-Atlantic region.
