Curation Specialist with QRI/GMI Joint Venture Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas

QRI/GMI JV is anticipating openings for one or two Curation Specialists to join our team. The JV is currently bidding for the project to support this work, and the anticipated start date is late October. The position(s) will be full-time temporary positions, with a minimum anticipated length of six months, with the work based on-site at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The tasks involve georectification of raster versions of paper maps that involves digital alignment of a satellite or aerial image with a map of the same area, using control/reference points, transforming the data into a common map coordinate system (WGS84). Other tasks include reconciling and editing original TRU cell data, including correcting spatial data (i.e., site boundary, datums, and survey units).  

Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, candidates should possess:

  • BA in Anthropology, Geography, or related field;
  • Two years of work experience in ArcGIS (must be documented on resume), this experience is at the level of making simple queries, editing, georeferenced of maps.
  • Experience with data management (e.g., MS Excel) and database design, construction, and maintenance (e.g., MS Access); 

The chosen candidates will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check, including DMV driving record.  Candidates must be able to obtain government security clearances (Non-classified level) and need to be eligible to be employed in the United States.
