Associate Archaeologist - Las Vegas

Position Overview: Coordinate cultural resource project in the Las Vegas Branch office, field director for large-, mid-, and small-sized projects, supervise field staff, coordinate project needs, produce quality site records, and technical reports. The position will require travel, locally and within California, Nevada, Utah and possibly other localities in western United States. Seeking an Associate Archaeologist that has the potential to advance to a Senior level position.

Tasks

  • Schedule, manage, and direct field crews; perform field work; conduct extended field rotations;
  • Schedule, manage and direct construction monitoring; be on-call to perform field work for discoveries; communicate with construction contractors;
  • Experienced in use of Trimble GPS receivers; familiarity with use of Arch GIS, Arch View 10.1 and Pathfinder software;
  • Prepared quality cultural resource letter reports and contribute to preparation of technical reports;
  • Prepare quality site records, including preparation of National Register justification statements; and,
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of CRM experience, at least three years in a supervisory role;
  • B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology (M.A. completed or in-process preferred);
  • Great Basin, Mojave Desert, and Colorado Plateau experience required; must be currently permitted or have experience required for permitting in California, Nevada and Utah;
  • Good communication skills required;
  • Familiarity with cultural resource laws, NHPA, Section 106; NEPA, CEQA, and other applicable federal and state regulations;
  • Experienced using Trimble GPS receivers; familiarity with use of Arch GIS, Arch View 10.1 and Pathfinder software;
  • Familiarity with BLM, PLPCO, and other federal and state cultural resource standards and guidelines;
  • Technical writing skills, experience preparing quality site records, NRHP justification statements, cultural resource letter reports and sections to larger technical reports;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive company provided vehicle;
  • Upon hire, must provide copy of current DMV Motor Vehicle Report (MVR); and,
  • Must be able to perform field work in strenuous conditions.
