The selectee for this position serves as a Archeologist (Cultural Resources Specialist) in the Environmental Compliance and Protection Department of Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH).
· Ensure all personnel comply with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA).
· Inventory and identify all Native American/Hawaiian human remains and associated funerary objects that have been in their possession and control prior to 1990 in order to repatriate them to their appropriate claimants (native Hawaiian individual and/or organizations).  
· Responsible for implementing consultation and final disposition requirements of NAGPRA.
· Guide and coordinate Base and tenant activity efforts to take cultural considerations into account in the siting, maintenance, repair and/or new construction/operation of all Base and tenant projects.  
· Perform or oversee surveys, inventories, and nominations of historic properties to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) or preparation of data recovery plans for cultural resources unavoidably affected by federal undertakings.
· Determine cultural resource areas requiring protection from project impacts and makes recommendations for alternate project site locations or impact mitigation measure, if necessary.
