Heritage provides an integrated approach to conserving Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage by working with the community to list items on the State Heritage Register, declare Aboriginal Places and register state shipwrecks. We assess applications to change listed items, repatriate Aboriginal ancestral remains, administer grants for heritage conservation and provide secretariat services to the Heritage Council and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee.
 
Primary purpose of the role: The Heritage Assets Officer works with owners and managers of State, National and Internationally significant heritage assets in NSW by providing strategic conservation advice; including the assessment of complex and strategic development applications, heritage conservation documents and approval pathways. The Heritage Assets Officer engages with owners and managers of these important heritage places to assist in the development and implementation in the strategic conservation management approaches to promote best practice heritage conservation.
