This is a temporary seasonal full time position, not to exceed 1039 hours, duty stationed at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Bayfield, WI. The primary work schedule for this temporary seasonal position will be full time, however due to, special projects, and/or special events, this position may be changed to a part-time or intermittent schedule during short periods of employment at the agency's discretion.

Area Information: Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is located in rural Northern Wisconsin approximately 75 miles east of Duluth, Minnesota.  The Lakeshore headquarters and duty station is located in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Rental housing is scarce, but park seasonal housing may be available 16 miles away at Little Sand Bay on a shared-occupancy basis.  Moderate priced homes are available in Washburn and Ashland.  Temperatures range from mid 80's in the summer to sub-zero in the winter.  Summer and winter recreational activities are numerous.

Duties
Incumbent is responsible for conducting archeological resource site condition assessments and surveys under the supervision of the park cultural resource specialist, as well as assisting with a variety of other cultural and natural resource projects including wildlife surveys, cultural landscape clearing, and photo archiving.  Incumbent is expected to work both independently and as a member of a team/field crew.  Utilizes GIS, GPS, and a variety of computer programs to collect, analyze, archive, and report data.  It is essential that the incumbent has a good attitude and a strong willingness to assist with a variety of resource tasks, both in the field and in the office. S-212 Wildland Power Saw training and Class 2 Faller qualification preferred for this position.
