Archaeologist (On-Call) Riverside, CA

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an On-Call Archaeologist to join our team in Riverside, California. This individual will work with project managers to assist with environmental planning projects and contribute to Amec Foster Wheeler’s capacity in the environmental marketplace.

 

Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include ethnographic / historical research and record searches as well as pedestrian surveys, data collection, environmental impact analysis and drafting, editing and revising of environmental documentation to assist in the preparation of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. 

Skills / Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) certification strongly preferred
  • At least one year of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, administration or management
  • At least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archaeological resources of the prehistoric period
  • At least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archaeological resources of the historic period
  • At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archaeology
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion
  • Experience in authoring resource descriptions, impact assessment and other documentation related to CEQA and NEPA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English) including the ability to articulate complex technical issues in an understandable manner
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills including the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of environmental / cultural resources principles and standards
  • Knowledge of CEQA / NEPA and their applicability to projects preferred
  • Understanding of local, state and federal regulatory framework
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Excel and Word in particular
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
