Job Description:

The incumbent in this position provides expertise in the identification of human and animal skeletal material and performs systematic investigation of possible archeological sites for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO). The individual participates in all aspects of laboratory and fieldwork and provides technical assistance to projects with a human osteology/physical anthropology component. The incumbent may assist on off-reservation consultation, laboratory analysis, cemetery preservation, and other duties as necessary. Master’s Degree in bioarcheology, physical anthropology, zooarchaeology, or closely related discipline is required. A minimum of one (1) year sustained fieldwork or laboratory experience is required. Competence in all aspects of human osteology including the identification of fragmentary remains, archaeological field techniques, laboratory analysis, and interpretation of materials is required. Competence in the identification and analysis of zooarchaeological remains is preferred. The incumbent must possess an inquisitive mind, patience and enthusiasm as field conditions can be physically demanding. The incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
