Archaeology Technician--The Montpelier Foundation, Virginia

The Historical and Public Archaeology Department at James Madison’s Montpelier is currently searching for two Archaeology Technicians. Technicians are primarily responsible for the excavation of early 19th century archaeological sites at Montpelier, and for engaging the public through our LEARN Archaeology Public Programs. Technicians work full-time (35 hours/week and receive full benefits including health insurance, vacation, and sick time).

Candidates should demonstrate archaeological 1-2 years experience in historical archaeology, and an enthusiasm for collaborative, engaged, public archaeology. Experience working in museum contexts, collaborating with descendant communities, or working with volunteers is encouraged. Candidates should demonstrate experience and willingness to work as part of a larger team, focused on carrying out the departmental and institutional mission.
