Staff Archaeologist / GIS Specialist - Glendora, California

Material Culture Consulting, Inc. is hiring a full-time Staff Archaeologist / GIS Specialist. This position will be based out of our Glendora, California location. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a wide range of sectors, have the flexibility to travel and conduct fieldwork with short notice, prepare excellent technical reports, and have mid-level expertise using ESRI ArcGIS software. Relocation expenses for this position will not be reimbursed and you must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Typical Duties:
Lead field crews for large-scale cultural and/or paleontological resources construction monitoring projects and pedestrian surveys 
QA/QC and collect data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology
Prepare daily progress/monitoring reports as needed by the project
Use GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for field data collection
Work independently or as part of a team
Prepare technical reports following CEQA/NEPA regulatory frameworks
Prepare and maintain GIS data in client-specific geodatabase schemas
Prepare proposals/invoices for existing and new clients
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or a related field
Professional GIS certification and/or two years’ experience working with ESRI GIS software
Minimum of five years of professional experience as a field director / senior archaeologist
Valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle
Computer literate
Articulate verbal and writing skills
Impeccable attention to detail
Ability to multitask and manage/organize several projects simultaneously in different phases of development 

Preferred Qualifications
Valid HAZWOPER 40HR Certificate
Ten years of experience of professional experience as a field director / senior archaeologist
Established client base
Experience working with California Publicly Regulated Utilities (SCE, PG&E, SDG&E, and SoCal Gas)
Understanding of local agency nuances in terms of level of effort, reporting preferences, etc.
