Field Director - Arizona

Harris Environmental Group, Inc. is seeking a Field Director for cultural resources survey projects throughout Arizona. The Field Director is responsible for supervising and directing fieldwork on-site, and making initial evaluations and recommendations for significance, effect, and treatment of resources. The Field Director will work closely with the Project Director and Principal Investigator to ensure that projects are completed safely, effectively, and on time.  Our clients require that Field Directors meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards for Archaeology. 

The minimum qualifications for this position include:
  • Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field
  • At least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in archaeology
  • Experience with prehistoric and historic cultural resources of the Southwest, preferably Arizona 
  • Ability to plan, equip, organize, and supervise large pedestrian surveys
  • Ability to work in hot and cold conditions
  • Competence with Trimble GPS units
