Senior Archaeologist / Project Manager--Western U.S.

North Wind Resource Consulting, LLC (North Wind) is seeking a senior level Archaeologist / Project Manager for cultural resource-related projects in the western U.S. Projects will be in multiple states. The candidate must be adept at planning and managing all phases of cultural resources projects including survey; archaeological monitoring, testing and data recovery; technical report production; and meeting project scope, schedule, and budget obligations. The position requires at least seven years of public and/or private sector experience in the field of archaeology / cultural resources management, including two at the Project Manager level. Candidate must have the ability to interact with federal and state agencies, as well as private clients. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university Anthropology / Archaeology or closely related field required. The ideal candidate will have an analytical specialty and a research interest demonstrated by peer review publications and must be able to be permitted as a Principal Investigator or Field Director by federal and state agencies. This position could be located in any one of our regional offices in the west: Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Idaho Falls, Las Vegas.

The position will require working with North Wind’s interdisciplinary cultural resources and historic preservation teams and supervising and mentoring junior cultural resources staff. The candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of federal and state historic preservation laws, especially Section 106 process and requirements. Work will be conducted primarily in an office setting, but the candidate must be able to conduct fieldwork, including survey in rugged terrain, carrying up to 40 pounds, and excavating in extreme weather conditions. The position requires the ability for travel. Per diem and lodging are provided for all project work requiring overnight stays away from employee’s home office.
