Physical Demands: Works in an office setting at this level, however, in order to gather samples and complete inventory activities, may be required to hike or ride vehicles or horses over rough terrain, and perform duties that require recurring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching or lifting. Work may also include lifting of moderately heavy items, such equipment and samples.
Working Environment: May be exposed to discomfort from extremes in weather temperatures. May subjected to hostile wildlife, chemicals and physical hazards.

Duties described below are at the full performance GS-11 grade level.
Design and implement resource inventory strategies and sampling design to obtain require data on heritage resources with a given project area.
Ensure collections from public lands, and the associated records, are deposited in repositories that meet federal curatorial facility standards.
Inform and consult with BLM management, land owners, state government officials, tribal governments, consulting parties and the public to provide information, develop opportunities for partnership[s, meet legal requirements, and explain and apply new technologies.
Provide recommendations and solutions required to achieve compliance and eliminate resource conflicts.
Assess the planning area at a landscape level to determine the best management for heritage and paleontological resources within that landscape and develop best management practices for such resources.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Field work required to complete projects.
