EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant, UC Davis — September 2016 - March 2017

  • Conducted experimental archaeology to compare wear patterns to Paleolithic artifacts uncovered in Mongolia.
  • Processed and prepared horse long bones to use for the experiment. 
  • Recorded data during experiments. 

Lab Assistant — Center for Archaeological Research at Davis – September 2015 - March 2016

  • Handled fragile archaeological materials, cleaning them and preparing them for curation.
  • Separated and cleaned animal bones by species to prepare samples for further research.

Researcher, UC Davis — June 2015 - September 2016

  • Analyzed artifacts and data collected during the UC Davis field school of 2015.
  • Created a poster that detailed research and findings, presenting at the Society for California Archaeology annual meeting. 
  • Co-authored and published a paper further detailing this research in the articles of the SCA proceedings 

Archaeology Field School, UC Davis — June 2015 - August 2015

  • Spent six weeks in the Mendocino National Forest, California, learning basic and advanced archaeological methods while conducting fieldwork.
  • Learned compass skills, survey techniques, site mapping and paperwork, screening procedures as well as setting up and excavating a unit. 
  • Practiced and studied flintknapping, which improved analysis of stone tools, and worked to identify projectile points that were discovered at survey sites.

Research Assistant, UC Davis — January 2015 - May 2015

  • Listened to 60 hours of nocturnal recordings from a cohabitation of vervets and baboons, looking closely for alarm calls that are sounded at leopard sightings.
  • Recorded each time an alarm was sounded as well as when the alarm calls ended.
