Immediate Need for Field Technicians in Central Washington


Archaeological and Historical Services (AHS) is a cultural resource firm affiliated with Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA and conducts work all over the Northwest U.S. Currently, we are accepting applications for temporary Archaeological Technicians that can start immediately (9/18/17) on a project located near Mattawa, Washington. This project is mostly shovel testing and may include NRHP-evaluative testing.  Fieldwork is anticipated to last 4-6 weeks.  The work schedule will be M-F for 8 hours a day and will include meal and lodging per diem for those living more than 60 miles from the project area.  Per diem will not be provided for weekend lodging.  Pay is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1) Work with AHS archaeologists to complete various field tasks

2) Take field notes and complete field and office forms

3) Conduct survey, shovel testing, and, possibly, NRHP-evaluative testing

4) Basic artifact identification

5) Document project/site features with gps receiver


·         Must have a B.A. in anthropology or archaeology

·         At least 6 months of relevant field experience

·         Must be able to carry 50 lbs over uneven terrain in various inclement weather conditions
