Archaeologist 2 Position - West Virginia Division of Highways

DESCRIPTION
Department of Transportation (WVDOT) / Division of Highways (DOH) / Engineering Division, Kanawha County - ARCHEO2 - Conducts archeological investigations at historic sites of major significance. Uses expert knowledge to facilitate coordination with state and federal agencies to determine level of documentation needed for Section 106/NEPA Process, and prepares professional technical reports for submission to state and federal agencies. Performs expert identification and analysis of artifacts and data recovered during fieldwork and preserves and prepares artifacts for the state's archeological collections to ensure proper archival protocols are met; reviews reports written by other employees. Reviews consultants reports and oversees technical and content review of consultant reports, and represents the agency at professional conferences, workshops, and public informational meetings. Directly accountable to the unit leader (ERPM1) and Environmental Section head. This position requires travel or may require travel and therefore requires a valid driver's license. (DT1803041)
