You will serve as a senior Archaeologist for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District engaged in the full range of archeological field, reporting, consultation, and compliance activities. Conduct or have oversight of cultural resources investigations including records and literature searches, archival studies and fieldwork consisting of archeological surveys, test excavations, and data recovery excavations at proposed or actual construction, permit sites, or operating project sites to determine, evaluate, and record the presence of archeological sites. Manage cultural resource contracts including the preparation of time and cost estimates, development of Scopes of Work to obtain the appropriate historical, architectural, archeological and cultural studies for archeological site survey, testing, and treatment contracts. Carry out cultural resource inventories, record and evaluate sites, and prepare reports to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Review and evaluate cultural resource inventory reports prepared by permit applicants, non-Federal sponsors, and contract archeologists to determine their adequacy in reporting compliance with Section 106. Provide technical input to other project team members concerning cultural resource compliance efforts and coordinate studies and projects with the numerous regional Native American tribes. Provide technical expertise in cultural resources for all planning efforts including environmental assessments (EAs), environmental impact statements (EISs) and is a member of interdisciplinary study and project teams providing overall guidance and written documentation of cultural resources compliance and coordination with Native American Tribes.
