Archaeological Monitors and Technicians Needed, Reno, NV

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking resumes for archaeological technicians in the Reno, NV area for archaeological monitoring and Class III survey projects.

Broadbent has an extensive hiring process involving specific employee training protocols and health and safety screenings. We hope to begin the hiring process for qualified individuals ASAP.

Archaeological Monitors

Project Details:

Monitoring for a sewer line replacement in Virginia City, Storey County, NV.

This project is local to our Reno office and does not include lodging or per diem. Crew members will be supplied with company vehicles and paid for drive time between the Reno office and Virginia City.

Schedule:

October 2017-2018

This is a long term project. Monitors will work on rotating two-week schedules. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8-12 hours per day, depending on construction.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.A. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field
    • In lieu of a B.A., 7+ years of experience conducting archaeological fieldwork in the Great Basin
  • Experience identifying and recording historic artifacts and features
    • Must be eligible to be BLM permitted as crew chief on historic sites in Storey County
  • Proficiency with ArcPad and ArcGIS strongly preferred
  • Current driver’s license and good driving record
    • No major moving violations in the last three years
    • No more than two minor moving violations in the last three years
  • Ability to walk up to two miles per day and/or remain standing out of doors during a 10-hour workday
  • Ability to carry up to 15 lbs. of equipment over short distances

Archaeological Field Technicians

Broadbent anticipates up to three months of fieldwork for multiple survey projects in Central and Western Nevada. We are seeking on-call field technicians for these surveys. For non-local projects, Broadbent provides transportation for Reno to the job site, individual hotel accommodations, and reimbursement for meals and project-specific field supplies.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.A. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field
    • In lieu of a B.A.; 4+ years of experience conducting archaeological fieldwork in the Great Basin
    • Experience in the Great Basin is preferred
  • One archaeological field school
  • Proficiency with ArcPad and ArcGIS strongly preferred
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day carrying up to 20 lbs. of equipment

Compensation

Compensation for all of the above projects is between $18 and $22/hour, commensurate with experience. Broadbent does not offer per diem at this time, however, hotel accommodations are provided and expenses are reimbursed. Reimbursement limits are project specific and will be communicated at the time of hire.
