Logan Simpson, a growing cultural resources and environmental planning firm, currently seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Cultural Resources to work in our Tempe, Arizona office. The position will include management of staff and cultural resources projects in Arizona, New Mexico, California, Colorado, and Nevada.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to achieve efficient, profitable, timely, and technically excellent performance through effective team leadership, mentoring, training, and supervision. Candidate will work to manage and grow a diverse staff of cultural resources professionals including archaeologists, architectural historians, and ethnographers. Ensure quality standards for all work accomplished by team. Collaborate with other team and firm leaders in overall strategic planning.  Must be able to demonstrate success in a senior management position (including demonstrable experience managing budgets, schedules, and multiple staff) while having frequent client and agency contact in a decision-making role. Business development and proposal preparation responsibilities will also be expected.

Requirements include:

·         A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Anthropology or related field and 10 or more years of archaeology consulting or agency experience or equivalent combination.

·         A minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a Cultural Resource Management setting.

·         Significant experience in interviewing, selecting, training, and mentoring staff.

·         Financial management experience in a leadership role.

·         Expert working understanding of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and tribal, state and local historic preservation ordinances and regulations.

·         Experience with preparing cultural resource sections of National Environmental Policy Act documents.

·         Excellent technical writing, technical editing, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.

·         The ability to work effectively in a team setting, with multi-disciplinary staff in a variety of office locations.
