question about references
prisoner
Looking over my resume recently I realized that a point of contact for a former company I worked for has now passed away, and I assume the company is no longer in business either. Is this something that should be noted on your CV/resume? I know with some job apps they require contact information for previous employers in addition to references. Just something I was curious about.

I suspect the shop you are talking about was a small one man show - thus the suspicion the comany is now out of business - but you should check it to be sure. Could be the business was passed on to someone else that you may have worked with and it could still be a valuable reference. I have seen a number of cases where similar transfers have taken place.

It was a small business and the owner passed and as far as I can tell the company is no longer running due to that. I guess "references" was a bad choice of words. I am speaking more about having to reference previous employers or points of contacts for previous projects. This is in addition to my list of references. This is both for my personal resume as well as my work resume that gets sent out with proposals. It is is easy to not put it on there, but as the work I did there is relevant in some cases it is sometimes necessary to include it. Overall it is not that big of a deal, just curious if there was some SOP for this sort of thing.
