2018 High School Field School at the Center for American Archeology

caakville

Signup for one to four weeks on the archeological field crew at the Golden Eagle site (11C120).

Join the CAA field crew at Golden Eagle site, the only known prehistoric site with an enclosing embankment in the Illinois River Valley. CAA has been investigating this enigmatic site since 2013, beginning with large-scale remote sensing surveys across the site that revealed intact archaeological deposits such as the ditch-and-embankment structure enclosing the site. In 2014, we began initial archaeological testing of the ditch-and-embankment enclosure. Subsequent fieldwork has focused on other parts of the enclosure and the portion of the site near mound 2. In 2018, we’ll continue to investigate occupations and building sequences at the site.

Open to high school students ages 13-17. No experience necessary.

Dates: June 10-July 7, 2018
Cost: $850-3300

Scholarships are available though our
Women in Archeology Scholarship and the Kampsville Legacy Scholarship.
