OFFICE OF CONTRACT ARCHEOLOGY, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO

The Office of Contract Archeology, University of New Mexico is seeking to expand our pool of qualified Archeology Crew Chiefs and Archaeology Field Technicians. Our office is preparing for multiple field projects throughout New Mexico. Projects include large surveys across Northern New Mexico and survey/testing in the Tularosa Basin. Work is projected to last through the summer. Camping will be required for some projects.

Applicants for crew chief must have a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or equivalent discipline with at least 1 year of field supervisory experience.  Additionally, all applicants for crew chief should be permittable as a field supervisor with the State of New Mexico (12 mo. full-time professional field experience in New Mexico and/or immediately adjacent areas). Pay will be between $16.00 and $23.84 per hour, depending on experience.

Field Technicians must have completed a field school, and a BA/BS in anthropology/archaeology is preferred. Pay will be between $12.00 and $15.95 per hour, depending on experience.
