2018 UMass Amherst Field School in Historical Archaeology at the Emily Dickinson Museum

Overview: Join us for another fun season of the Summer Field School in Historical Archaeology at the Emily Dickinson Museum. Students will be trained in a variety of laboratory and field methods, public engagement and interpretation. We will continue our investigation of the Dickinson Homestead including the former gardens, barn area and well. Through this research, students will assist the museum in reconstructing the historic landscape and history of land use at the site. The field lab is open to the public so students will have an opportunity to interact with museum visitors of all ages. Field School graduates will earn academic credit while acquiring the skills to work for cultural resource management firms.

Academic Credit: 6 credits - the equivalent of taking two classes in five weeks; Cost $3,000
