FC-FLIP Archaeological Field Intern - SW Colorado

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tres Rios Field Office (TRFO) in Dolores Colorado has several work projects scheduled for the summer of 2018. First, the intern will have the chance to help conduct Class III cultural resource inventory on travel routes within the Tres Rios Field Office. As part of the survey, the intern will monitor previously recorded sites within the project area and record newly discovered sites found during inventory. Cultural inventory data collected by this crew will be used to make informed decisions pertaining to the TRFO's travel management plan. Second project involves working with the BLM range program to help complete small-scale range improvement surveys across the field office and monitoring of archaeological sites within the Slick Rock Grazing Landscape. Lastly, the intern will assist with all aspects of the BLM TRFO’s cultural resource Section 110 program including but not limited to archaeological site recording, cultural resource monitoring, ruins stabilization, and additional survey. All projects will be complete alongside a BLM archaeologist.

The opportunity to explore remote public lands, gain professional work experience in cultural resource management, and contribute to an important land management process awaits those selected for this challenging opportunity.
