Project Archaeologist- Alexandria, Virginia

Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc., is seeking qualified applicants with an M.A. or M.S. to fill a full-time Project Archaeologist position in our Alexandria, Virginia office. Applicants should have at least two years experience directing fieldwork for CRM projects preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region, and two years experience with analysis and technical report writing. It is also preferred that the applicant has experience in GIS. Responsibilities include: leading and supervising field crew in a variety of environments; recording prehistoric and historic-period sites through survey; excavating historic-period and prehistoric sites with a field crew; monitoring the quality of fieldwork and reviewing all paperwork/notes; conducting research required for assessments that addresses environmental, historical, and archaeological data; technical report preparation; adhering to established budgets and schedules, and maintaining appropriate professional standards of quality and technical proficiency in all assigned areas of work; positively interacting with a variety of clients, governmental agencies, and team members to meet deadlines and confidently represent the company; such other duties as may be required.  Traveling for non-local projects is necessary.
