Cultural Resources Field Lead – Texas


In preparation for a number of upcoming field projects, Audubon Field Solutions is seeking applications for a Cultural Resources Field Lead position based out of Houston, TX. This position will be one of the initial members of a growing environmental team. The Field Lead will assist the Cultural Resources Project Manager (as well as other team members) in the completion of a diverse range of projects in Texas and surrounding regions. Eventually, this will include overseeing additional field personnel on future Audubon field projects.

The successful candidate will hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology (or closely related field), and must have completed an accredited archaeological field school. In addition, the candidate must have a current, valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel. The physical demands of the position include an ability to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, and conduct fieldwork for extended hours over rugged terrain, often in inclement weather.

 The candidate’s professional profile should include at least two years of archaeological fieldwork experience, and six months of crew chief level supervisory experience. The candidate’s skillset should include some exposure to a range of archaeological field methodologies such as survey, testing, and monitoring. Ideally, the candidate will also possess a familiarity with Trimble handheld GPS units and other related technologies.

Compensation for this position will initially be structured as part-time hourly; however, advancement to full-time salary status is possible. Pay will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience. Work schedule is based on a 40-hour work week, but the opportunity for overtime exists depending on project deadlines/ time constraints. Per Diem will be provided on all out of town fieldwork.
