Lab Manager Wanted. Orange and Riverside, California

 Lab Manager

Cogstone Resource Management Inc. seeks a reliable and responsible full-time Lab Manager to perform work at both our Orange and Riverside offices. Knowledge of California prehistoric and historic archaeology is required.  Experience with faunal analysis or paleontology a plus. Knowledge of GIS also a plus. 

Job Description

The Lab Manager will oversee the processing of cultural and paleontological resources including but not limited to inventorying, sampling, cleaning, analyzing, cataloging, photography of artifacts, fossils, and other samples. Other responsibilities will include:

 

  • ·         Setup, organization, and maintenance of lab and inventory company resources
  • ·         Preparation of databases for keeping track of and cataloguing artifacts
  • ·         Submitting artifact samples for special analyses (e.g., chronometric dating)
  • ·         Preparing and submitting collections for curation
  • ·         Supervising and performing quality assurance on lab work conducted by staff
  • ·         Reviewing data from the field
  • ·         Writing portions of reports
  • ·         Working with staff to coordinate project resources and needs
  • ·         Maintaining and checking out supplies and field equipment

 

Qualifications

  •          MA in Anthropology, Biology or a closely related field
  •          Five years of experience in Cultural Resources Management
  •          Two years Lab Manager experience          Competency in field and laboratory work
  •          Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and their own vehicle
  •          Supervisory experience a must

Physical Demands

The job demands periodic sitting, standing and walking.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must lift or move collection materials that may weigh up to 40 pounds periodically.

Travel

Daily travel to one of the two Cogstone facilities required.  Travel will alternate.

Compensation

Competitive pay rate is commensurate with education and experience.  Full-time employees receive health, dental, vision, and 401k benefit plan with company match, paid holidays, and paid vacation.
