Field Techs/Crew Leaders--Modoc National Forest

lsechrist

The Modoc National Forest in Alturas, California is looking for field technicians for the summer. We need both crew leaders and technicians (GS-4s through GS-7s). These are not federal positions--we have funding through Modoc County (a program called TEACH) to hire technicians, and they will be working with the Forest's archaeologists. Pay would be up to a GS-7 level, which is $17.18/hr. Crew leaders and techs are needed June-September 2018, with the possibility of extension into October.

These are field-going positions, primarily conducting pedestrian survey and re-recording sites. The Modoc is a high desert forest in northeast California with a volcanic landscape, and is on the edge of the Great Basin/Modoc Plateau. It has some neat archaeology--multiple obsidian sources, dense lithic scatters, house features, rock alignments, emigrant trails, and much more.

If interested, please send a resume to Pam Bumsted,  Forest Archaeologist. Her email is mbumsted@fs.fed.us, and her number is 530-233-8730
