On-call Cultural Resources Technician


SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking several on-call Cultural Resource Technicians for upcoming archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring projects based out of our Phoenix, Arizona corporate office. This is a temporary, on-call position. The Cultural Resource Technician would report to the Field Director, Laboratory Director, or Crew Chief, and would assist in all aspects of field and/or laboratory work, including pedestrian survey, hand excavation, mechanical excavation, documentation, mapping, artifact collection, artifact processing, and digital data entry. • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or closely related field, or Tribal Cultural Resource Monitor certification, required • Previous Cultural Resource Management survey and excavation field experience preferred, especially experience in central Arizona • Willingness to, and experience in, identifying and excavating human remains preferred • Experience with report writing preferred • Completion of an accredited Archaeology field school or comparable experience required • Knowledge of Android tablets, digital data collection, and GPS use preferred • Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in extremely hot weather, rugged terrain, and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required SWCA Environmental Consultants is a growing employee-owned firm, providing a full spectrum of environmental services.
