ICF is currently seeking a Senior Archaeologist to be based in Seattle, Washington.     
Job Description
The objective of the Senior Archaeologist position is to recruit/identify a qualified individual to provide cultural resource management, environmental compliance, and permitting advisory services for public agency, utility, and land development/management clients, in a technical lead and project manager capacity. The ideal candidate will have a balance of experience in archeological evaluation and analysis, project and personnel management, as well as business development.
Key responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in archaeology, business development, client management and task order management.
  • Contribute towards cultural resources development efforts within subject matter expertise, participation in events and conferences, and outreach to teaming partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong predisposition towards networking.
  • Provide senior-level resource lead and technical support in field and office settings. Develop resource management recommendations, assess project effects on resources, and provide high level support to address complex resource problems and issues that require advanced technical or regulatory knowledge.
  • Evaluate resources for National Register of Historic Places and Washington Heritage Register.
  • Perform QA/QC for reports or documents.
  • Develop, direct, and/or implement studies and compliance approaches toward acquisition of permits and clearances (for federal, state, and local laws and regulations) or resource management plans.
  • Manage projects related to environmental compliance and resource management, including client contact, budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, public interest facilitation, technical approach development, and subcontractor involvement.
  • Recruit, retain, and mentor staff.
  • Collaborate in an integrated team with engineers, scientists, planners, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Integrate with clients to achieve long-term objectives and efficiencies, such as programmatic strategies from front-end siting and routing analysis and feasibility studies through implementation, operations, and maintenance
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Master’s or PhD in Archaeology or related field.
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cultural resources management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience project management with a thorough understanding of cultural resource regulatory compliance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in business development.
  • A history working with private, public sector clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarity with Pacific Northwest cultural resources and associated regulatory environment.
  • Creativity in applying archaeological concepts to address regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills to contribute to a progressive work environment for employee development and career fulfillment.
  • A desire to excel and passion for rewarding work on complex environmental challenges in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of SEPA, NEPA, NHPA, and other state and federal environmental regulations.
