Project Archaeologist - La Grande, OR or Walla Walla, WA

Position Type: Full-Time
Base Pay: $45,000-$55,000, DOE, plus benefits
Location:  La Grande, Oregon preferred, Walla Walla, Washington will also be considered


Anderson Perry & Associates, Inc., a full-service engineering firm, is seeking applicants for a Project Archaeologist. This position includes working on a team to assist with the archaeological review and assessment of sites and properties associated with a variety of infrastructure and water resources projects in eastern Oregon and eastern Washington.  Candidates should have experience interfacing with the State Historical Preservation Offices (SHPO) in Oregon and Washington, Federal, State, and Tribal Agencies, and Native American Tribes within the larger Great Basin/Columbia Plateau region.  Experience should include leading cultural resource fieldwork, compiling Section 106 documentation (including archaeological inventory reports, archaeological site and historic property forms, and NRHP evaluations), conducting agency consultation, and managing cultural resource projects.


To apply for this position, a candidate must have prior experience leading archaeological fieldwork and possess a Master’s degree in Archaeology or a related field; be able to become certified as a  Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA); and meet the terms of an Oregon qualified archaeologist (see Oregon Revised Statute 390.235[6][B][b][A-C]) and be approved as an Oregon qualified archaeologist within 6 months of employment.  The ideal candidate will have 3 plus years of experience preparing and conducting archaeological evaluations and reporting, and must be comfortable with working in an interdisciplinary team environment, directing cultural resource staff, leading meetings, and working with agency personnel and contractors.  Travel and overnight stays for field work will be required.   Experience working in ArcGIS preferred but not required.
