ArcView GIS Specialist/Graphics

One of San Diego‚Äôs oldest environmental consulting firms is seeking an ArcView GIS Specialist

 

The successful candidate will be able to provide a suite of professional GIS Services to our numerous clients. Typical responsibilities include: interfacing with clients to assess project requirements; creating high-end analytical and cartographic map products from utilizing various data types and sources including satellite imagery aerial photography; performing geospatial analysis for maps and/ or reports; acquiring data from various sources; creating, maintaining, and documenting (metadata).  This position may also include assisting with the design, modeling, implementation, and maintenance of a geospatial database as well as identifying and evaluating potential GIS applications and tools to improve operational efficiency and integration of location based information. GIS and CAD methodologies are used daily to provide mapping data integrity and reporting services. The successful candidate may lead and/or participate as team member in large projects.

 

Preferences: 

Two to five years experience in the use of geographic information system software including MapInfo, ArcView, ESRI products, and AutoCAD and Map. Ability to analyze complex technical data and deliver geographic information systems mapping solutions to solve client problems. Strong project management and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of graphics programs such as Photoshop is required. Experience using peripherals such as plotters, digitizers, scanners, etc a plus.

 

Typical Responsibilities: 

Applicants should have a Bachelors or Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems or Geography or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Have a minimum 2 years experience working with geographic information systems and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in related industry. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision. Ability to track and meet scheduled project deadlines with short time frames. Experience in mapping and cartographic standards for the development of cadastral, environmental, regulatory filings, and strategic map products. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of GIS software including MapInfo, ArcView, ESRI products, and AutoCAD Map, as well as Microsoft Office applications. Applicants must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
