An Archaeology Assistant (Research Associate II, Special) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. This position will assist with, among other things, artifact curation objectives and tasks, site/cemetery monitoring and posting, archaeological fieldwork, administrative support, public outreach, and training.


Proposed Annual Salary Range
$40,000 - $50,000


Required Job Qualifications
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
BA in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, cultural resources management, or closely related field is required and three years relevant experience. The successful candidate must have completed a field school as part of the degree curriculum.
The successful candidate must be able to walk over uneven terrain in inclement weather. The position may also require bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds daily.
The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications
MA in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, cultural resources management, or closely related field.
Two years of post-graduate experience in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, cultural resources management, or closely related field. Experience with curation practices and protocols are beneficial. Also, a successful candidate is desired who can work well both with others and individually.
