California Cultural Resources Monitors Needed State-Wide

Cogstone Resource Management Inc. seeks reliable, responsible monitors to perform work in California.  Knowledge of California prehistoric and historical archaeology is required.  Areas with upcoming work include all parts of San Bernardino County, northern San Diego County, San Luis Obispo County, Orange County, Los Angeles County, and northern California.  Accepting both full time and part time applications.

 

Job Description

Cultural resources monitors must be able to stand for ten hours although most projects work eight hour days.  Monitors are responsible to document project activities and finds through notes and photographs.  Safety and other types of training are required and paid by the company.  Ability to work well with construction crews and colleagues and to follow specific protocols is necessary.  Previous mitigation experience is preferred. 

 

Qualifications

·         BA in Anthropology or a closely related field

·         Two years of  experience is preferred

·         Competency in field and laboratory work

·         Ability to conduct field work for long hours, in possible inclement weather conditions and the ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds

·         Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and their own vehicle

·         Supervisory experience a plus

 

Skill Requirements

·         Restraint - the company prohibits any social media posting of work-related content and violation is a termination offense.

·         Confidence in the construction environment

·         Proficiency in use of  tablets and standard office software

·         Excellent field notes

·         Experience in paleontology a plus

·         Ability to work independently with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team

·         Self-motivated with strong initiative

Compensation

Competitive pay rate is commensurate with education and experience.   Full-time employees receive health, dental, vision, and 401k benefit plan with company match, paid holidays, and paid vacation.
