Our Field Services division has seasonal/temporary immediate openings working on a Phase I Pipeline in Northern Minnesota.  Crews are planned to mobilize Thursday August 16, 2018 for 6 weeks of continuous work.

  




 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Schedule On: Monday – Saturday; 10 hour days

Schedule Off: Sunday

Hourly Position; Overtime paid for all hours worked over 40

Per Diem: $51.00/day; 7-days a week (per diem is direct deposited bi-weekly; no receipts needed)

Lodging: Single Occupancy

  

GPS TECHNICIAN POSITION OVERVIEW $18.00/HOUR

Under the supervision of the Field Lead, the Archaeology GPS Technician is responsible for navigation using a Trimble Geo 7 Series GPS unit equipped with Terra Sync software within the archaeological project area.
DUITES

· Record all types of survey coverage within the project area

· Record & Flag pre-plotted STP locations

· Responsible for the digital recordation and mapping of all archaeological sites using an established data dictionary

· May conduct pedestrian walkover, controlled surface survey, and/or shovel test survey when necessary at the discretion of the Field Lead

EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology or related science and successful completion of an archaeological field school

· Prior experience operating GPS units for archaeological field work. Preference will be given to those experienced with Trimble Geo Explorer units and Terra Sync

· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar capacity conducting fieldwork

 

FIELD TECHNICIAN POSITION OVERVIEW   $16.00/HOUR

Under the supervision of the Field Lead for Phase I survey, the Field Technician is responsible for performing common tasks associated with archaeological investigations and surveys within the archaeological project area.

DUTIES

· Perform pedestrian walkover survey, controlled surface survey, and hand excavation (shovel testing)

· Complete field-related paperwork including but not limited to recordation of excavated shovel tests, plan view and profile drawing.

· May assist in technical site mapping, photography and artifact collection

EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of a Bachelors degree in archaeology, anthropology or related science

· Successful completion of an archaeological field school

· Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar capacity conducting fieldwork.

 

THE PROJECT AREA CUTS THROUGH WATERBODIES AND WETLANDS IN NORTHEASTERN MINNESOTA. SURVEY AREAS ARE REMOTE REQUIRING LONG HIKES AND DAILY SHOVEL TESTING THROUGH SWAMPS, MARSHES, AND UPLANDS. MUCK BOOTS AND OTHER WETLAND RELATED GEAR ARE SUGGESTED.


 

REQUIRED DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING

This position requires job candidates (after a conditional offer of employment), employees, and sub-contractors to abide by our written Drug, Alcohol, and Contraband Policy which includes satisfactory test results of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Due to the physical requirements of this position job candidates will be asked to complete a preplacement physical. The results of this physical are a condition of employment. A physician of occupational medicine will review your health history including allergies, vital signs, and perform a physical exam in accordance with the job description to ensure your ability to perform the requirements of this job safely. Merjent/In Situ will cover the cost and will not receive any personal medical information or history from the physician.
