Position Opening: Field Director/Project Archaeologist, Tierra Right of Way Services, Seattle, WA

Tierra Right of Way Services is seeking an Archaeologist for our growing Washington cultural resources team.

Position Summary:

The project archaeologist assists with cultural resources management projects under the supervision of the cultural resources project manager and/or principal investigator.  Responsibilities include background research and literature review; supervising crew; conducting survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery projects; and assistance with report writing. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Geoarchaeology and/or Architectural History.

The successful candidate will work out of our Seattle office, with partial telecommuting options available.  Tierra maintains dedicated GIS, editing, and IT departments which support this position. Pay will be commensurate with applicant’s experience and education.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       MA/MS in Anthropology or Archaeology.

·       Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for professional archaeologist

·       5+ years of CRM experience in the Pacific northwest, preferably in Washington

·       Ability to use GPS units in the field

·       Master’s level writing and editing skills

·       Ability to conduct fieldwork in physically demanding conditions

·       Ability to travel for fieldwork

·       Current Washington State driver’s license

·       Ability to pass federal and state security background checks

·       Ability to cooperate and function as part of a team
