Archaeological Field Technician

Beaver Creek Archaeology (BCA) is an established Cultural Resource Management firm headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota. Due to an project demands, we are seeking to fill multiple immediate vacancies for Archaeological Technicians to help us close out the 2018 field season. These positions would be seasonal, full-time temporary positions. These positions will be based out of our Bismarck, North Dakota office.

Technician Responsibilities:

·         Work collaboratively with a team to perform Phase I, II, and III archaeological fieldwork

·         Prepare and keep detailed notes, records, and photographs for report composition

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

·         Excellent communication and organizational skills

·         Professional demeanor and positive attitude

·         Adaptability to rapidly changing project needs and scheduling

·         Ability to work under supervision and within a team

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Immediate Availability

·         B.A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field

·         Ability to walk long distances (up to 10 miles per day) in extreme weather conditions through rugged terrain

·         Ability to work 100% in the field

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds 

Physical Requirements:

·         Regularly sit and/or drive for hours at a time

·         Walking/Surveying for hours at a time in extreme weather and through rugged terrain (approximately 10 miles per day)

·         Utilizing vision to look for objects on the ground as well as the observation of objects at both long and short distances

·         Able to utilize hands to drive, hold GPS, camera, and other necessary field equipment and as needed to safely work with shovels, augers, trowels, screens

·         Able to traverse across uneven and rough terrain under various weather conditions (including but not limited to: extreme heat, cold, wind, and/or rain)

·         Ability to bend-over, squat/stoop down to inspect items and as needed to work on any testing projects

Preferred Qualifications:

·         1 cumulative year of relevant work experience

·         Experience with Trimble GPS or similar hardware
