yost@ecs-arch.com

Espinoza Consulting Services has immediate openings for Project Archaeologist, Field Supervisor, and Archaeological Technician positions for upcoming work at Fort Irwin National Training Center, San Bernardino County, California.  Work will involve large scale cultural resource inventory on multiple ranges, with fieldwork projected to last approximately four months. Supervisors and some field personnel will be retained after completion of the field effort for project analysis and writeup.

The field start date is slated to be no later than 1 December 2018 but supervisory personnel will be considered for immediate hire. Field startup may also be expedited depending upon range scheduling. Additional work on other 2019 ECS projects in the western US may be available after completion of this survey. Competitive wages will be paid for all positions and per diem/accommodations will be provided.

Qualifications:

Project Archaeologist:  Required qualifications include an advanced degree in anthropology or archaeology; five years cultural resource management experience; extensive experience with the archaeology, history, and ethnohistory of the southwestern and/or far western United States; experience with various federal and state cultural resource regulations; and demonstrable success in supervising fieldwork, research, report preparation, and project personnel.  The individual must have experience in the Mojave Desert, Great Basin, Salton Trough, or other California desert settings. Mojave Desert experience is strongly preferred.  Candidates should also have demonstrated record of technical and analytical writing, and experience with artifact/materials analysis. Past experience at Fort Irwin is desirable. Depending upon qualifications and experience, this individual may be hired as a permanent salaried employee.

Field Supervisor: Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in anthropology or archaeology and three years field/write-up experience in the southwest and/or far western region. The individual must have experience in the Mojave Desert, Great Basin, Salton Trough, or other California desert settings. Mojave Desert experience is strongly preferred.  Preference will be given to individuals who have excellent field, writing, computer, and GPS/total station skills.  Past experience at Fort Irwin is highly desirable.

Archaeological Technician: Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology and one year of field experience in the southwest and/or far west region.  Since survey and excavation methods utilize GPS units, total stations, and PDAs for in-field recording, applicants should be comfortable with the use of such equipment and/or willing to learn.  Past experience at Fort Irwin is highly desirable.

Given our current workload, ECS intends to fill positions as soon as possible. The closing date for submitting a resume is October 21, 2018, but resumes will be reviewed upon receipt and positions may be filled in advance of that date. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume in Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf format to:
