Senior Project Archaeologist - Texas/Kentucky/Missouri

Wood’s cultural resource program (Amec Foster Wheeler is now part of Wood) is looking for an experienced Project Archaeologist with Texas, Midwestern, and/or Southeastern experience. This position is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with education and experience


The candidate may be placed in the Houston, TX; Jefferson City, MO; Lexington, KY or Louisville, KY offices.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should possess a master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, and have a minimum of 10 years of demonstrable field supervisory experience in CRM
  • Candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in archaeology and be eligible for the Register of Professional Archaeologists
  • Experience managing pipeline projects is required
  • Preferred technical skill sets include, but are not limited to, historic or prehistoric artifact analysis, GIS experience, archival research, or geoarchaeology / geomorphology
  • They must have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
  • Project Archaeologists are lead authors and coauthors on technical reports that document the results of the investigation and must be able to write well; The applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to address project research questions, through a synthesis of data from the field, laboratory analysis of artifacts and incorporation of relevant published research; A digital copy of the applicant’s thesis may be requested as a writing sample
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at a time is essential
  • Candidates must be willing to work as part of a team, either taking direction or leading as is needed to reach stated goals
  • The applicant should also have demonstrated ability to manage the finances of project budgets
  • Prior to employment, applicants are required to take separate drug screening and physical fitness exams that Wood will arrange
