Archaeological Field Technicians - Throughout California

Material Culture Consulting, Inc. (MCC) has an immediate need for Archaeological Field Technicians. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with 5+ years of field experience in California to support several CEQA and Federal oversight projects in multiple sectors. Work will include large-scale surveys and monitoring throughout the State of California. 

All work is based in Southern California from our Pomona office. Mileage and per diem/lodging are available for out of town assignments. Relocation expenses can not reimbursed so we are looking for California-based staff support. Hours of employment will be contingent on employee's skillset, and availability of project assignments. 

Our Archaeological Field Technicians are expected to complete the following tasks with little oversight, and with a group or individually:

- Archaeological Survey and Monitoring
- Subsurface Testing of Archaeological Sites
- Using GPS equipment in the field such as tablets with bluetooth submeter GPS antennae
- Completing daily monitoring forms and paperwork - both company forms and client forms, depending on the assignment
- Preparing of Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) 523 Forms
- Contributing to technical reports 

Required Education and Experience

BA or BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
Completion of an accredited field school (preferably in California)
1 year of professional CRM experience in California

Preferred Education and Experience

MA/MS in Anthropology, Archaeology, or Related Field
5 years of professional CRM experience in Southern California
GISP certification and/or two years working with GIS software on archaeological projects.
