JOB DESCRIPTION

QRI is growing, and we are looking for a Crew Chief to join our team. The ideal applicant will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in anthropology and 12 months of experience as crew chief in the Southwest region of the United States (southeastern California, Arizona, New Mexico, southern Utah, southwestern Colorado and west Texas).

RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Perform and supervise Phase I, II, and III archaeological fieldwork and report on results

·        Direct and lead crew member(s)

·        Work closely with all staff regarding project work, scheduling, and data exchange

·        Maintain clear and detailed field notes and field forms

·        Evaluate cultural resources using Fort Bliss Significance Standards. This requires writing supporting arguments for the significance assessments for each historic property

·        Prepare either Texas and New Mexico state site forms

·        Draft technical survey reports

·        Apply problem solving skills in order to optimize project completion

·        Attentive to details with an ability to manage multiple tasks and/or multi-task

REQUIREMENTS

·        College or university Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology (Archaeology specialty) or closely related field is required 

·        Twelve months of field and analytic experience in Southwestern archeology as Crew Chief

·        Experience with the TRU survey method is a plus

·        Demonstrated experience in supervising cultural resources surveys in the field

·        Ability to use a GPS unit.  Experience with GIS is a plus

·        Ability to walk long distances in extreme weather through rugged terrain

·        Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

·        Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

·        Excellent communication and organizational skills

·        Experience preparing reports and site forms

·        Make recommendations based on the analysis of field data
