Project Manager-GIS Specialist. Houston, TX

Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. (MAC), a subsidiary of Coastal Environments, Inc. (CEI) is seeking an archeological project manager and GIS specialist for their Houston, Texas office. 

The Project Manager is responsible for timely and cost-effective conception, implementation, and completion of archeological projects as well as the design and implementation of effective research designs within constraints of project schedules and budgets. In many cases, Project Managers will be asked to serve as Principal Investigator for federal and state permitted MAC and CEI projects and to assist with client and business development plans. 

Successful candidates will also serve the team as a GIS specialist and provide support to team members in cartography, geospatial data collection and quality control, Trimble GPS mobilization and data correction. A proven record of GIS expertise and capabilities is required. Candidates with degrees in geospatial fields and or GIS certifications will be given priority, however, archeologists with strong GIS portfolios will also be considered.

Minimum qualifications: M.A. in Anthropology, Geography, GIS or related field. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one-year supervising field and or lab technicians. Experience working in Texas is desirable. Applicant must provide demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills. Applicant must provide demonstrated excellence in GIS, cartography and data manipulation skills. Experience in technical archeological report writing and preparation is required. Experience with broad range of cultural resource projects preferred, particularly testing and data recovery phases.

Preferred qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an analytical specialty (e.g. pottery, historic artifacts, lithics) or skill set that will enhance the team’s overall capabilities. Experience in the CRM industry outside of Texas is highly desirable. Technical ability with field data collection tools, Trimble Geo7X, RTK, TDS, tablet-based data collection. Ability or aptitude to incorporate innovative methods in archeological projects. Experience in Texas public archeology. Proficient knowledge of NHPA Section 106, NEPA, the Antiquities Code of Texas. Experience working with a variety of clients including TxDOT, THC and Environmental as well as Oil and Gas companies. Competitive compensation and benefits package.
