I use Noel D. Justice - 'Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of California and the Great Basin' and 'Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of the Southwestern United States'.
He has another book entitled 'Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of the Midcontinental and Eastern United States: A Modern Survey and Reference'.
All are from Indiana University Press.

Really all depends on where you are working as most works that are detailed are regionally based. In NY Ritchies "typology and nomenclature..." is still pretty much a standard after 45 years - though you do have to be aware of newly identified styles scattered throughout a series of works.

With you being in Alabama the Mississippi Point Type Guide by Dr. Sam McGahey would probably be useful, you can get it through MDAH. The Archaic sections are extremely good.
