Project Archaeologist Positions, Jacksonville, FL

LG2ES
has immediate openings for full-time Project Archaeologists to lead projects
throughout the Southeast. We are seeking enthusiastic, hard-working individuals
with a masters or doctoral degree in anthropology or archaeology and at least five
(5) years of leadership experience in CRM in the Southeast. These positions
would be based in our Jacksonville office although well-qualified candidates
would be considered for placement in our offices in Georgia.
The
successful candidates will have experience directing field crews on various
cultural resources projects. The successful candidates will also have an
excellent understanding of Section 106 of the NHPA. The Project Archaeologist position
will be responsible for the management and supervision of archaeological
projects, including survey, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring. Duties will
include development and implementation of research designs, work plans,
schedules, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting. Additional duties may include
marketing; proposal development; client coordination; and assistance with
regulatory consultation.
The
Project Archaeologist will work closely with LG2ES cultural
resources project managers and environmental staff. We are looking for an
individual with a strong commitment to technical excellence and Client service.
The position will require travel. Employment with LG2ES is subject
to the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Qualified
candidates will possess the following:
- Five or more years of progressive CRM experience supervising archaeological projects and preparing technical reports in the Southeastern U.S. Seven or more years of experience is preferred.
- Candidates must have strong experience with identifying and recording prehistoric and/or historic resources.
- Proven ability to manage field crews.
- Excellent management and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Proven technical report writing skills. Three (3) writing samples as Primary Author will be required.
- Experience and/or understanding of the consultation and review process, and a solid reputation within the professional and regulatory communities is preferred.
- Familiarity with standard field methods and technology (GPS, total station, etc.) and GIS applications and software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and Adobe
