Archaeological Field Technician – Texas

In preparation for a number of upcoming field projects, Audubon Field Solutions is seeking applications for an Archaeological Field Technician position based out of Houston, TX. This position will be one of the initial members of a growing environmental team. The Field Technician will assist the Cultural Resources Project Manager and Project Archaeologist in the completion of a diverse range of projects in Texas and surrounding regions.

The successful candidate will hold, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology (or closely related field), and must have completed an accredited archaeological field school. In addition, the candidate must have a current, valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel up to 50 percent of the time. The physical demands of the position include an ability to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and conduct fieldwork for extended hours over rugged terrain, often in inclement weather.

The candidate’s professional profile should include at least one year of archaeological fieldwork experience. Ideally, the candidate’s skillset will include some exposure to archaeological field methodologies such as survey, testing, and monitoring. A familiarity with Trimble handheld GPS units and other related technologies is also favorable.

Work schedule is based on a 40-hour work week, but the opportunity for overtime exists depending on project deadlines/ time constraints. Per Diem will be provided on all out of town fieldwork.
