GIS Mapping Technician and/or GIS Mapping Professional- Bismarck, North Dakota

Beaver Creek Archaeology (BCA) firm is currently seeking to fill one or more vacancies for a GIS Mapping Technician and/or GIS Mapping Professional. After the successful completion of a probationary period, this position would then become full-time with benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, and Retirement). All interested applicants must meet the minimum requirements and physical requirements detailed below:

Minimum Qualifications:

·         At absolute minimum, must hold a certificate in GIS from an accredited university

·         Solid background working with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe, Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel)

·         Data Entry, Vector data manipulation, Georeferencing and knowledge of Geoprocessing tools (union, buffer, …), Database experience, and Cartography skills

·         Strong desire to work hard and produce a superior product

·         Valid driver license

·         Pass a Pre-Employment and at Random Non-DOT Drug tests

·         Must possess or be capable of possessing the attributes of a successful candidate (listed below)

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in GIS or a closely related field

·         Ability to create a 3-D Virtual Viewshed Analysis projects

·         Knowledge of or experience with Public Land Survey System (PLSS)

·         Archaeology background and/or interest

·         Graphic creations with Adobe Cloud systems

·         Oil and Gas background and/or interest

·         Experience with Trimble GPS or similar hardware

·         Experience working with and interpreting engineering plat maps and/or CADD

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

·         Adaptability to rapidly changing project needs and scheduling

·         Creative problem-solving skills in order to optimize project completion

·         Excellent communication and organizational skills

·         Ability to work both independently and as a team player

·         Able to work well under minimum supervision

·         Passion for their profession with a continued interest in learning about their field and growing their skillset

Responsibilities:

·         Accurate and reliable map and data creation

·         Direct data management and reporting for simultaneous projects under strict deadlines

·         Work closely with all staff regarding project work, scheduling, and data exchange

·         Use professional judgement and experience to synthesize data, maps, and problem solve

Physical Requirements:

·         Should be to remain seated or standing at a desk, working on a computer, for hours at a time with repetitive hand motions

·         Should be able to look at a computer monitor for hours at a time

·         Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak in the English language

·         Must be able to think critically with attention for detail for hours at a time

·         May occasionally need to be able to safely lift up to 50lbs from the floor to waist using both arms and hands

·         May occasionally need to go into the field in order conduct ground truthing (weather conditions may be extreme (field and weather appropriate clothing would be necessary). Would also need to be able to traverse uneven surfaces and potentially rough terrain).
