Field Technicians for Upcoming Survey- Oregon


Archaeological and Historical Services (AHS) is a cultural resource firm affiliated with Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA that conducts work all over the Northwest U.S. AHS is currently seeing applicants for Archaeological Technicians that may be interested in working with our staff of archaeologists and historians on a large-acreage pedestrian survey in eastern Oregon. Food per diem and lodging cost reimbursements (no travel advances) during the field session will be provided to individuals working on the project if it is more than 50 miles from their home (based on current GSA rates for the project location).


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1) Work with AHS cultural resource staff on a daily basis in the field

2) Complete pedestrian survey transects over uneven ground in variable and sometimes extreme weather conditions

3) Take field notes and complete field and office forms

4) Basic artifact and feature identification

5) Document project/site features with gps receiver

6) Photograph artifacts, features, and archaeological sites using a DSLR camera (provided)



·       B.A./B.S. in anthropology or archaeology

·       At least 6 months of relevant field experience

·       Ability to carry 50 lbs or more across uneven terrain in various inclement weather conditions and work in a remote location

·       Be able to travel to either the project location or our offices in Cheney, WA


Prior experience in the Great Basin, particularly in eastern Oregon is preferred.
