Archaeological Field Techs- Southeastern US

Southern Research, Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to work on a project by project basis, primarily in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Experience with archaeological survey in the Southeastern US is required. We are looking for people who can: read topographic maps, use a GPS, carry a pack with ample food and water to last the work day, excavate shovel tests, complete paperwork legibly, hand draw site sketch maps utilizing compass and pacing, and work in hot, humid, and buggy conditions (it's summer in the South after all). Field conditions frequently range from dense forested areas, to steep mountainous terrain, to wide open agricultural fields.

Pay will be based upon experience and competence level, with prevailing wage rates paid on Federal projects. Per diem is $35/ day and single occupancy hotel rooms are provided.
