We specialize in the full spectrum of cultural services related to Archaeology, Maritime Archaeology, Architectural History, History, Archives, Collections Management, Museum Services, GIS, Documentary Media, and Public Affairs. 

SEARCH has immediate openings for full-time Archaeological Technicians to join our team and work on multiple archaeological surveys and excavation projects across the Southeastern and Western regions of the United States. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field;
  • Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field preferred;
  • At least six (6) months to a year of archaeological field experience required;
  • Secretary of the Interior (SOI)-qualified is strongly preferred;
  • Experience performing archaeological survey and excavation in New Mexico and Texas is strongly preferred;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to work well on simultaneous tasks;
  • Competency at taking detailed project notes;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Competency at collecting field data using Trimble Global Positioning System (GPS), or other electronic devices;
  • Ability to navigate using US Geological Survey (USGS) maps and aerial photography;
  • Ability to travel for weeks at a time; and
  • A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Cultural Resource Management (CRM) industry (firms, clients, contracts, new research, and projects) at the region-wide, nationwide, and worldwide level; and
  • Current standing member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) or qualified archaeologist under the Secretary of Interior guidelines.

This position can be based out of SEARCH’s Florida offices in Jacksonville, Gainesville, or Orlando; our New Orleans, Louisiana, office; or our Austin, Texas office.
