Archaeological Crew Chief - Utah


EcoPlan Associates, Inc., a natural and cultural resources consulting firm with headquarters in Mesa, Arizona, is accepting applications for qualified archaeological crew chiefs for the 2019 field season in Utah. The ideal applicant will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in anthropology, must be permitable as a crew chief in the Great Basin permit area, have a minimum of 12 months of experience in archaeological survey, prehistoric and historic-period site documentation, use of handheld GPS units for site mapping, and site form preparation.

Permitting requirements are:

· 12 months experience in similar and related duties, including 4 months experience (preferably survey) in the Great Basin permit area.

All applicants must be able to walk up to 12 miles per day in difficult terrain and extreme weather carrying a 20-pound pack. Some surveys will require overnight camping in remote locations during the week and hotel lodging will be provided on weekends. EcoPlan especially values a commitment to effective communication, teamwork, and quality in all aspects of archaeological fieldwork, including mapping, note taking, and digital photography.

Hourly wage ($21-$24) will vary depending on experience and education; lodging and per diem will be paid. EcoPlan will give first consideration to applicants who hold a crew chief permit for the Great Basin region and have immediate availability
